Development in the industry is already a reality, Industry 4.0 is bringing about great change, with many challenges and opportunities for managers in the industry. So, so you don't stay out of this debate, here's a series of TED Talks that can provoke the most interesting reflections on the topic. With the constant evolution of technology, professionals should be increasingly updated and interacted with new tools capable of optimizing processes.

TED Talks on Development in Industry

TED Talks have been a driving force for inspiration, information and innovation since its inception in 2006, becoming a sensation in the last decade. They are short and dynamic lectures, presenting, among several topics, some related to development in the industry.

Check out our selection of TED Talks on development in the industry

1. Augie Stung | The real reason manufacturing jobs are disappearing

For about 11 minutes, Augie Picado, an expert in border and logistics, presents the reasons for the disappearance of the jobs we know. The expert presents a complete reality check of what global trade really is like and how shared production and open borders help us produce higher quality products at lower costs.

2. Markus Lorenz | Industry 4.0: how intelligent machine machines will transform everything we know

A TED that is less than 10 minutes long, in which Marcus Lorenz introduces us to the transformation of the way manufacturing works today. Describing how machines full of intelligence are taking over more and more of the productive space. The director of the Boston Consulting Group explores the many ways this transformation will change the way manufacturing works today, making it faster and cheaper, impacting the economy and presenting what kinds of other jobs this new chapter will create.

3. David Author | Will automation take away our jobs?(Will automation take all our jobs?)

Author David discusses in this 20-minute TED how the industry is full of opportunities to automate processes —which makes managers wonder about the impact these changes can have on jobs in their workspace. During the lecture, economist and professor at MIT presents a paradox about which you do not hear much about: despite a century creating machines to do our work for us, the proportion of adults in the U.S. with a job has consistently increased in the last 125 years. Why hasn't human labor become redundant and our skills obsolete? In this talk on the future of work, economist David Autor addresses the question of why there are still so many jobs and presents a surprising and hopeful answer.

4. Héctor Nuñez | La revolución de la intelligence hace posible la industria 4.0 (The intelligence revolution makes industry 4.0 possible)

A presentation of just over 15 minutes, Héctor Nuñez shows us that most of the time, we are connected to the network, but we are not aware how it affects us. Nuñez describes what Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things are during its presentation.

5. Marco Annunziata | Welcome to the age of the industrial internet

First the Industrial Revolution. Then the Internet revolution. Now: the Industrial Internet. In a lecture of just over twelve minutes, economist Marco Annunziata reflects on what exactly this means for the future of the industry? Annunziata analyzes the transformation of the industrial sector by technology, especially IoT and the future implications of growing development in the industry.

6. Kevin Kelly | How AI can bring on a second industrial revolution

"The real path of a drop of rain coming down the valley is unpredictable, but the overall direction is inevitable," says digital visionary Kevin Kelly – and the technology is the same, driven by surprising but inevitable patterns. While the exact path to get there may not be predictable, it is inevitable that Artificial Intelligence will usher in a second industrial revolution in the coming decades, according to Kevin Kelly. In his talk he details three trends that we need to understand in order to be able to adopt AI and guide its development in the industry.

7. Beatriz Gonzalez | Industria 4.0: una revolución para las personas (Industry 4.0: a revolution for people)

Beatriz Gonzalez presents an interesting opinion about the fear of the new revolution, from the human point of view during this TED with a duration of less than 13 minutes. A presentation of development in industry, with an insight into danger and opportunities.
